We had been excited about the return of Common’s Cassian in John Wick 3, as reported by various outlets. Keanu Reeves and Common’s fight scenes in John Wick: Chapter 2 had been some of the best of the bunch.
But that doesn’t seem to be in the cards for the third and final film.
ComingSoon was speaking with Common about his role in John Wick 3 only for the actor to reveal that he won’t be in the film after all. A big shock to fans but scheduling conflicts and changes can happen during development/filming process.
“I’m not in the third part, but I could say that I really loved being a part of “John Wick 2” and it was an amazing experience. Working with Keanu and Chad, they’re just phenomenal. Challenged and really passionate about the stuff, and I can say that three is going to be incredible, though, I’ll tell you that much.”
“Yeah, no, no, I’m not in it, but I know it’s going to be great.”
There has been chatter of John Wick spin-offs in the future with more movies set in that universe including a series set at the Los Angeles branch of The Contential. Cassian might have a few more opportunities to return to this action franchise.
Production is still seemingly taking place in Morocco with actors such as Halle Berry and new addition Said Taghmaoui on set with Reeves during that leg of filming. The two have confirmed themselves part of the shoot via their social media accounts.
John Wick 3 will see John trying to survive a $14 million open contract on his head after killing a member of the High-Table on premises of The Contential. We last saw John in New York City wounded/tied and running for his life.
The rest of the cast includes Anjelica Huston, Jason Mantzoukas, Robin Lord Taylor, Asia Kate Dillon, Yayan Ruhian, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Laurence Fishburne.
Lionsgate has set the release date for John Wick 3 for May 17th, 2019.
