This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the fantastic sci-fi action film The Matrix starring Keanu Reeves and it looks like another installment in on the horizon, despite talk of a reboot. Stuntman turned John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski has revealed to Yahoo! that not only that a fourth Matrix movie is on the way, but The Wachowskis are involved, which is contrary to the previous reporting from TheHollywoodReporter that Warner Bros. was considering a reboot with new creatives.
There’s a fourth Matrix movie on the way and, contrary to previous reports, the Wachowskis will be involved. That’s according to John Wick 3 director Chad Stahelski, who worked on the original trilogy.
“I’m super happy that the Wachowskis are not just doing a Matrix, but they’re expanding what we all loved,” Stahelski told Yahoo Movies UK. “And if it’s anywhere near the level of what they’ve already done, it wouldn’t take more than a call to go, ‘Hey, we want you to be a stunt guy’ and I would probably go and get hit by a car.”
Surprised, we followed up by asking if the Wachowskis were directing the new film. “I’m not sure of the overall,” Stahelski replied. “I’m not sure if Lana is.” But they’re involved? “Yeah. And if they wanted help, I would absolutely put down whatever I was doing to help them.”
TheHollywoodReporter’s article also mentioned that Michael B. Jordan had some interest in the project.
Sources say there is potential interest in Michael B. Jordan to star, but much must be done before the project is ready to go.
Before his eventual exit from Warner Bros. Pictures, former CEO Kevin Tsujihara had suggested in February to the LATimes that they could pursue more Matrix movies.
Screenwriter Zak Penn had been attached to the project who mentioned last year to ScreenRant he was still working on it.
“I’ve been working on Matrix right now. Which is in…a phase right now. That’s a franchise I desperately want to see brought back and, I can’t go in to too much detail, but I’ve been harassing Warner Bros. for years to try to get it going again so that’s one thing I’m working on and I’ve been working on a bunch of other things too.”
He also attempted to debunk the reboot talk multiple times on his Twitter account.
1) Re: the Matrix, yes I’m writing something. Not a reboot, not a continuation, watch Animatrix, read comics to see what wachowskis did

Nothing official has been announced concerning the fourth movie so we should be still a bit cautious about these statements.
