After Vin Diesel teasing on social media that John Cena (Bumblebee) that would join the cast of Fast and Furious 9, Universal Pictures has now confirmed the casting via Deadline.
Vin Diesel teased about John Cena’s casting in the ninth installment of Fast & Furious back in April on Instagram, and Universal officially confirmed today that the Blockers actor is a lock.
Cena’s character is under wraps, the only word coming to us is that he plays ‘a badass’. Dwayne Johnson, we hear, will not be in Fast & Furious 9.
Filming will begin filming this month at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom and will continue throughout the summer.
Dwayne Johnson won’t be in the movie but has left the door open to come back for Fast and Furious 10, and there is talk that Universal Pictures is instead in sequels to his spinoff Hobbs and Shaw.
Justin Lin returns to direct after sitting out the last two movies and is expected to return of the next installment as well. It’ll be interesting to see how they plan on topping the last actions sequences, as outer space has been thrown around as a joke.
Universal has set the film’s release date for May 22nd, 2020 after moving away from the month of April due to Bond 25.
