While speaking with the Russo Brothers at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Smith/IMDB (Smith currently working on a Howard The Duck animated series for Marvel/Hulu) asked them about Kevin Feige’s comments about trying for ages to get Keanu Reeves into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and who they would like to see him play.

SMITH: You guys are leaving, you got no skin in the game, heading out the door. Who should Keanu play?

JOE RUSSO: “That’s limitless right, who would you put him as?”

SMITH: Moon Knight.

JOE RUSSO: “Yeah, wow. That’s a good call.”

With both Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Blade (Mahershala Ali) on the horizon at Marvel Studios adding a violent superhero such as Marc Spector aka Moon Knight to the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t seem much of a stretch anymore.

Moon Knight, Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley: four different aspects of the same man who was resurrected by Khonshu, the Egyptian Lunar-God of Vengeance and Justice to serve as his “avatar”.

Funny enough, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely the screenwriting duo of the Captain America trilogy, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame have previously teased interest in adapting the character while speaking with TheNewYorkTimes.

MARKUS: “Were we to take another one on, you can’t increase the scope or the stakes from where we are at the moment. We’d have to shrink it back down, do an origin story. There are deep-bench characters where I’m like, if you roll that guy out, I couldn’t resist. There is a great Moon Knight movie to be made, but I don’t know what is.”

When speaking with ScreenRant, Feige himself suggested they are interested in Moon Knight, but didn’t sound like they were rushing him into development.

FEIGE: “Yes. Does that mean five years from now, 10 years from now, 15 years from now? There are stacks of character cards that we have in our, in our development offices, which we look at. Which we pull for him, which we discussed.”

Kevin Feige has indeed been pursuing Keanu Reeves for years with previous reports suggesting he was in the mix for roles like Doctor Strange and Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. It will be interested where Reeves will ultimately land as he heads into shooting the fourth installment of his successful John Wick franchise next year.
