Variety reports of another casting addition to Paramount Pictures’ newest franchise-starter Without Remorse, featuring Tom Clancy character John Clark played by Michael B. Jordan.
They’ve revealed that Jodie Turner-Smith (Nightflyers) has landed the role of Karen Greer, the daughter of Jack Ryan’s boss and friend James Greer played by James Earl Jones in a bulk of the movies and in the Amazon series is played by The Wire’s Wendall Pierce.
After she plays the Bonnie to Daniel Kaluuya’s Clyde in Universal’s romantic thriller “Queen and Slim,” actress Jodie Turner-Smith will join Michael B. Jordan in Paramount’s adaptation of Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse.”
Turner-Smith will play Karen Greer a possible love interest to Jordan’s character.
Jordan’s Fantastic Four co-star Jamie Bell was recently added to the cast in the role of Robert Ritter, an antagonist character seen in the film Clear and Present Danger along with John Clark.
Clark, aka John Terrence Kelly, is an ex-Navy-SEAL-turned-operations-officer for the CIA who has appeared in 17 novels starting with 1988’s “The Cardinal of the Kremlin.” Though mainly seen as a secondary character who helps CIA analyst Jack Ryan with the physical elements of missions, Clark finally stepped into the spotlight with “Without Remorse,” which tells his backstory on how he came to work for the CIA.
I’m slightly curious if we’ll be seeing John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan and Wendell Pierce’s James Greer cameo in the film to help connect it to the current Amazon series, both are Paramount projects and a crossover would make sense.
However, there is a good chance this new movie could take place before the events of the series.
Yesterday, HN Entertainment exclusively revealed that Without Remorse would be filming in Germany at the Studio Babelsberg facility in Potsdam-Babelsberg (outside of Berlin).
Filming will begin this fall.
Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of The Soldado) will direct from a script with rewrites from Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, Wind River, Sicario Day of The Soldado).
It’s been previously reported that Michael B. Jordan will play Clark in a Rainbow Six movie as well. This is certainly a sign that Paramount expects the character John Clark to be the next Ethan Hunt, as they attempt to expand how many action films they release.
Paramount Pictures has set the film’s release date for September 18th, 2020.
