In April, Collider revealed that Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook) would be playing an American soldier in a new military drama from newcomer director Lila Neugebauer and potentially co-starring with Brian Tyree Henry (Joker, Atlanta).
Written by first-time screenwriter Elizabeth Sanders, the new film will find Lawrence playing a U.S. soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury in Afghanistan and struggles to recover back home.
HN Entertainment has some updates on the untitled film.
We’ve learned that filming recently began on June 18th in New Orleans, Lousiana and is expected to complete on July 31st.
Also, some of the film’s crew includes art director Matthew Gatlin (Ford v Ferrari, Zombieland: Doubletap, Triple Frontier, Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Logan) and costume designer Heidi Bivens (The Beach Bum, Spring Breakers, Euphoria)

There is some hope that the new project can help Jennifer Lawrence out of her current rut of roles and projects that seemingly haven’t done terribly well with critics or at the box office.
A24 has yet to give the film official release date, but coming out around the fall/winter would make a lot of sense if they’re aiming for awards push, as the subject matter would suggest.
