TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that Sony Pictures is moving quickly on a new action film titled Man From Toronto that will be starring Jason Statham and Kevin Hart with filming set to begin this March.
It will be directed by The Expendables 3’s Patrick Hughes, who recently worked on The Hitman’s Bodyguard starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.
Patrick Hughes, who directed the Ryan Reynolds-Samuel L. Jackson action comedy Hitman’s Bodyguard, is on board to helm Toronto, which the studio has slotted for a Nov. 20, 2020 release. It will be a tight turnaround as the project is eyeing a March production start.
Here is the film’s synopsis which will involve a mistaken identity angle.
The story uses a case of a mistaken identity as its jumping off point after the world’s deadliest assassin, known as the Man from Toronto, and a New York City screw-up run into each other at an Airbnb. A clash of personalities, and a clash with deadly killers, ensues.
Stathman recently wrapped on Guy Ritchie’s thriller Cash Track (a remake of the 2004 French film Le Convoyeur) and is rumored to be leading an Expendables spinoff titled The Expendables: A Christmas Story for Nu Image/Millennium Films.
Hart recently had a cameo in Jason’s Hobbs & Shaw and had a lead role in Sony’s Jumanji: The Next Level.
Sony has set the release date for Man From Toronto on November 20th. 2020.
