It looks like Jason Statham won’t be reuniting with Kevin Hart for the upcoming action-comedy The Man From Toronto as Deadline reports the British actor has dropped out of the film four-six weeks before cameras were set to begin rolling.
Jason Statham is a late scratch from The Man From Toronto, the Sony Pictures action comedy he was expected to star in with Kevin Hart for The Expendables 3 and The Hitman’s Bodyguard helmer Patrick Hughes. Sources said the studio was four weeks from the start of production.
Statham was going to play the world’s deadliest assassin — known as ‘The Man from Toronto’ — who teams up with Teddy, New York’s biggest screw-up, when they are mistaken for each other in a rented Airbnb. The Man from Toronto and Teddy are forced to team up and save the day, but the real question is, will they survive each other?
Hart is still sticking around and it sounds like the film’s PG-13 among other things seemed to lead to Jason’s exit.
They’ll likely pursue a replacement and had been targeting a November 20th release date.
There were rumblings recently that there was a plan to move forward with a spinoff to The Expendables franchise titled The Expendables: A Christmas Story with Statham back in the Lee Christmas role alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tony Jaa.
What Jason Statham will do next is yet-to-be-determined.
