Sony Pictures Spider-Man spinoff film Morbius starring Jared Leto in the title role has received a prime summer release.
According to THR’s Aaron Couch, Sony Pictures has given Morbius a July 31, 2020 release date. Morbius‘ release date once belonged to Marvel Studios, back when the studio was set to release three films in 2020. Sony still has October 2 booked that same year, which is likely for Venom 2.
As of right now no other film is scheduled to release against the film. Giving the film a prime shot at success at the box office. Warner Bros. just announced a Christopher Nolan movie for July 17. Disney’s Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, hits theaters one week prior on July 24.
As we previously reported production will kick off sometime in February in London, England.
Trying to rid himself of a rare blood disease Dr. Michael Morbius attempts an experimental treatment that inadvertently transforms him into a living vampire that must feed on human blood to survive.
Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto, Adria Arjona that is playing Morbius’ love interest turned vampiric foe, Martine Bancroft, and Matt Smith in an undisclosed role. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster. Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.
