Writer/director James Wan has taken to his official Instagram to announce that his next film has started production. Posting an image of the film’s slate and confirming that the film’s cinematographer will be Michael Burgess.
Despite trades using the film’s working title Silver Cup, James confirms that the title is actually Malignant.
WAN: “First day of principal photography on the 10th feature film of my career. MALIGNANT is the official title. Really excited for this one.”
James Wan is best known for being behind the Saw and Conjuring franchises along with directing the billion-dollar hit Aquaman.
Filming is said to be taking place in Los Angeles, California with a cast that includes Annabelle Wallis, George Young, Maddie Hasson, Jake Abel, Michole Briana White, Paul Mabon, and Jacqueline McKenzie.
Malignant is expected to be a horror film that homages the Italian slasher murder mystery genre Giallo.
Warner Bros./New Line Cinema has yet to give Maglinant an official release date, but fall 2020 feels like a good bet.
