James Wan has taken to his Facebook page to comment on fan speculation about his upcoming horror film for New Line Cinema.
In the post, he revealed that his movie won’t be a reboot of an existing franchise and will instead be an original Hard-R project implementing old school practical effects.
WAN: “There’s been a bit of speculation as to what my next project is… all I’ll say is, I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets.”
It should be exciting news as Wan was behind the Saw franchise.
Wan will co-write with Ingrid Bisu.
Filming on the untitled horror project is said to begin this fall in Los Angeles, California.
James is expected to make his Aquaman sequel after he finishes up on this project.
