Variety is reporting that Steven Spielberg will be stepping back as director on Indiana Jones 5 starring Harrison Ford.
Instead, they’re reportedly in talks with Ford v Ferrari director James Mangold, most notable to general audiences for making X-Men films such as The Wolverine and Logan.
Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy recently cemented that the film is a continuation and not as previously reported, a reboot with a younger actor in the lead role of Indiana Jones aka Henry Jr. Jones.
The outlet is unsure when filming will begin despite recent comments made by Harrison Ford and if they’ll be able to hit their targeted July 2021 release date.
Jonathan Kasdan (Willow, Solo: A Star Wars Story) had been previously working on rewrites of the script.
