James Gunn Implies That Idris Elba Isn’t Playing Bronze Tiger In ‘The Suicide Squad’

Another interesting tidbit from James Gunn’s Instagram fan Q&A yesterday includes a clue about Idris Elba’s role in The Suicide Squad.

When asked if Elba would be playing Bronze Tiger or the new Deadshot, James seemingly implied that he’s playing another character entirely.

You can check out the exchange below.

This would seemingly debunk that Bronze Tiger rumor that has been making the rounds over the last couple of months along with the original trade reports that suggested that Elba was replacing Will Smith as Deadshot (later clarified as a new character).

The rest of The Suicide Squad cast consists of Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Idris Elba, John Cena, Alice Braga (Predators, New Mutants), Taika, Waititi, Peter Capaldi, Joaquin Cosio (Quantum of Solace, Narcos: Mexico), David Dastmalchian, Sean Gunn, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Steve Agee, Daniela Melchior, Jennifer Holland, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, Julio Ruiz, Juan Diego Botto, and Tinashe Kajese.

Figuring they’re all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission.

Elba was most recently seen playing the villain of the Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw.

The Suicide Squad is currently shooting in Atlanta, Georgia with a release date of August 6th, 2021.
