HN Entertainment has learned that costume designer Judianna Makovsky is expected to reunite with writer-director James Gunn for The Suicide Squad. Judianna’s comic book movie credits include Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
The film’s cast will include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and new addition Idris Elba potentially playing a new DC Comics character.
Will Smith won’t be returning as Deadshot due to scheduling conflicts.
Figuring they’re all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. The despicable inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to complete a risky suicide mission.
Collider had mentioned a wave of new DC characters that would be introduced in the film which included Otis Flannegan aka Ratcatcher, Nanaue aka King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker.
Filming is expected to begin this fall in Atlanta.
James Gunn was also recently rehired by Disney to direct Guardians of The Galaxy 3 and is expected to start shooting that once he finished up on this project.

Warner Bros. has set the release date for The Suicide Squad for August 6th, 2021.
