ThatHashtagShow has recently spoken with director Andy Muschietti last night during a panel with the cast of Fox’s horror flick Underwater starring Kristen Stewart.
He not only confirmed he’ll begin shooting the Flash movie in 2020, but he’ll be also directing a remake of the cult-classic werewolf movie The Howling for Netflix.
Muschietti was on hand in Hollywood last night to moderate a panel with the cast of Underwater following a press screening of the film. In speaking directly with That Hashtag Show, he confirmed that he will indeed be working on the upcoming Flash movie for DC in 2020. That project will be “different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting,” Muschietti tells us. The big news, however, is that after Flash, he teams up with Netflix for a new adaptation of The Howling. (He had previously indicated a desire to do a remake of the horror classic; he’s now confirmed that he will.)
Andy is best known for directly IT and IT: Chapter Two for New Line Cinema that made a lot of money for the studio given the R-rating.
Our assumption is that The Howling will be after Andy finishes up the Flash.
He was also attached to direct a live-action feature film version of Attack On Titan for Warner Bros.
Here is the synopsis of the original 1981 film directed by Joe Dante (Home Alone, Gremlins, Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone).
In Los Angeles, television journalist Karen White (Dee Wallace) is traumatized in the course of aiding the police in their arrest of a serial murderer. Her doctor recommends that she attend an isolated psychiatric retreat led by Dr. George Waggner (Patrick Macnee). But while Karen is undergoing therapy, her colleague Chris (Dennis Dugan), investigates the bizarre circumstances surrounding her shock. When his work leads him to suspect the supernatural, he begins to fear for Karen’s life.
