I believe many of us assumed that a new Deadpool movie or Deadpool 3 would have been part of those Phase 5 teases made by Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con, while only mentioning “mutants” on stage. There has been an expectation since the merger closed that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is indeed one of the only Fox characters that will be making the jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Well, there might be a new clue when that could happen.
Ryan is known for his cheeky posts on social media and this latest one on Instagram might be teasing Deadpool’s introduction to the MCU in Phase 5.
REYNOLDS: “Investigation heading into year 5. Or as I call it, ‘Phase 5.’ The point is, I love conspiracy-yarn.”
This is simply speculation, but Ryan doesn’t normally do this stuff randomly for the fun of it.
What we do know is that both scripts for Deadpool 3 (Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) and X-Force (Drew Goddard) had been in the development at 20th Century Fox prior to the merger.
Deadline recently revealed that X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four, and other Fox characters are now all under the control of Marvel Studios. Which means that they can now jump into those development meetings feet first.
Phase 5 as far as we know is expected to include the following movies.
- Guardians of The Galaxy 3
- Black Panther 2
- Captain Marvel 2
- Fantastic Four (maybe)
- X-Men (maybe)
I know people are expecting more reveals at D23 Expo next month, but it is always better to keep expectations minimal as not to get disappointed.
