With prequels, What-If, and the multiverse on the horizon there are some are chances we’ll see the return of some characters that have died over the last couple of films.
Cate Blanchett recently spoke with EntertainmentTonight about her reaction to Thor: Love and Thunder having Natalie Portman taking the Thor mantle along with the possibility of her reprising the role of Hela in future MCU projects.
BLANCHETT: “I’m so, so excited.”
“To know that Natalie is going to have such a pivotal role is really exciting.”
“I’m so looking forward to seeing it, because I absolutely loved seeing them all with my kids. But I really, really loved Captain Marvel. No offense, Taika, but it was probably my favorite.”
When asked if she’d be willing suit-up and return as Hela.
BLANCHETT: “That’s probably a Marvel question. I’m here…”
Cate wasn’t the only Thor franchise actor recently asked about reprising their MCU role.
Idris Elba while on the promotional tour for Hobbs and Shaw revealed to ABC he’d be game to play Heimdall again, whether that is in the upcoming Loki series or something else.
ELBA: “Listen, Heimdall is essentially part of the god family. So you know, he essentially could be alive. I’m just saying! I’m just putting it out there!”
“The Heimdall character goes way back into, you know, the Thor mythology…And I’m sure there will be an interesting way to bring that alive. Of course, I would. Yes.”
We don’t currently know if Hela and Heimdall will in fact return but there are certainly Marvel Studios projects like the Loki series and possibly some flashbacks in Thor: Love and Thunder that could allow them to appear.
