Thanks to positive buzz coming from recent reviews along with screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film Hustlers is looking like it’ll be taking in an estimated $32 million this weekend according to BoxOfficePro.
A rather big score for the STXFilms stripper crime flick budgeted at $20.7 million and featuring a diverse cast of actresses including Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Cardi B, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, and Lili Reinhart.
WB’s IT: Chapter Two kept the top spot with $40 million, down 43.9% from last weekend’s $91 million opening.
The Goldfinch looks to have be having a tough time getting interest from audiences as the film is looking like it will open in the #8 spot at only $2.6 million this weekend, despite a theater count of 2,542. Costing $40 million and next weekend seeing three wide releases it likely isn’t going to end up doing very well domestically.
Next week we’ll see Rambo: Last Blood, Ad Astra, and the Downton Abbey movie all go head-to-head, which should be interesting when the dust settles.
