‘Home Alone’ Reboot Reportedly In The Works

Home Alone is a holiday classic for tons of people around the world. Now, hours after the films star, Macaulay Culkin was featured on a Google Home ad spoofing scenes from the classic film. Fox is looking to reboot the film.

According to Splash Report, The project will not be considered a remake but will be goiing the route of the highly successful Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, as a continuation of the franchise. Home Alone has become a priority for the studios.

The project is being written by SNL cast-member Mikey Day and his writing partner Streeter Seidell. The duo behind the viral sketch Haunted Elevator featuring Tom Hanks as David S. Pumpkins.

Lastly the outlet adds there is no director currently attached to the project. However, Will Ferrell is reportedly attached to the project, and they’re currently courting Melissa McCarthy to join him.

With no story details available and it being a continuation on the classic films. It is hard to tell where the reboot will take the story and if Culkin will have any involvement.

Released in 1990, Home Alone Centered around 8 year old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) who acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother (Catherine O’Hara) makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) plan to rob the McCallister residence, and that he alone must protect the family home. The film was followed up in 1992 with Home Alone 2: Lost In New York.
