Henry Cavill’s ‘The Witcher’ Already Has Seven Seasons Mapped-Out By Showrunner

It’ll be interesting to see how Netflix’s new fantasy horror series The Witcher starring Superman actor Henry Cavill (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Man of Steel) does this holiday season because it sounds like the people behind series are already expecting it to become a hit and are already preparing for the eventuality of many more seasons.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

A quote has been making the rounds online from showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich speaking to SFXMagazine (in the latest issue via ComicBook) revealing that she has already mapped-out stories for seven seasons of The Witcher, an impressive bit of ambition given that Netflix hasn’t even officially greenlit a second season.

“I’ve [mapped out stories] for seven seasons. Right now it’s just about, ‘how do you set up stories that really capture audiences for years at a time?’ The worst thing we could do is put all of our energies just into season one, and not be thinking about where these characters can grow to.”

I guess we’ll have to see if Netflix will ultimately use all those seven seasons worth of stories let alone make a second season. It’s certainly a series potentially exploring multiple adventures as there are plenty of novels to pull from and they could always craft original ideas as well.

Check out the full series trailer released last week below and on December 20th the first season will drop on Netflix to binge.
