HBO’s ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Shoots March-September and ‘Lovecraft Country’ Shoots April-December In Atlanta

HN Entertainment has learned production dates for two anticipated genre series at HBO.

First, the third season of Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan’s Westworld will begin filming around March and will wrap in September. Locations will include Melody Ranch Studio in Santa Clarita, California, and Moab, Utah. These new dates are updated from the previous talk of it starting up over the fall.

In an unspecified time in the future, Westworld, one of six theme parks owned and operated by Delos Inc., allows guests to experience the American Old West in an environment populated by “hosts”, androids programmed to fulfill the guests’ every desire.

Second, we’ve learned that Lovecraft Country will be shooting in Atlanta, Georgia with production taking place from April to December. White Boy Rick’s Yann Demange will be directing the first episode as the cast reportedly consists of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aunjanue Ellis, Jonathan Majors, Michael Kenneth Williams, Wunmi Mosaku, Courtney B. Vance, and Elizabeth Debicki.

Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. Thus begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

Lovecraft Country will be produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, Bad Robot also produces Westworld.

HBO also has their first of many Game of Thrones spin-off series The Long Night shooting soon with Jane Goldman (Kingsman, X-Men: First Class) set to showrun.
