Hawkeye Solo Film Rumored For Phase 4…But Will it Star Clint?

While we have an idea of some of the films that will follow the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, everything outside of that has been pretty unknown. Well now it seems that Kevin Feige has given at least a vague hinting at what’s to come after Avengers 4, including a potential Hawkeye movie.

According to a Redditor who was at the ProducedBy 2018 Q & A session Kevin Feige attended this past weekend:

“What next after Avengers IW2? Kevin Feige says he is working on:

  • Continuing stories of characters you’re familiar with
  • Different incarnations of characters you know
  • Introducing completely new characters you never heard of before (unless you’re a comics fan)”

Obviously on the first note there we have the two films mentioned above, but there may be something coming on that second point. According to the site MCU Cosmic, who first broke the Eternals news, there are plans for a Hawkeye film in Phase 4. However, it may not be focused on Clint Barton, as, in the comics, while Clint is the most well-known Hawkeye, he’s not the only one. The second Hawkeye in the comics was a girl named Kate Bishop, who was introduced in Young Avengers.

Based on Feige’s second point and what MCU Cosmic are being told she may be the lead in the Hawkeye film. Which could mean a few things. It could mean that Clint dies in Avengers 4, similar to how Kate became Hawkeye in the comics after his death in Avengers Disassembled. It could be that he remains Ronin after Avengers 4, similar to the period in the comics after Hawkeye’s revival where that was the case and was in fact the period where the two first met. Or, it could mean that both Hawkeyes share focus like the Matt Fraction and Jeff Lemiere runs on Hawkeye in recent years.

If the film does focus on Kate, it could lend more credence to the Young Avengers being a thing post Avengers 4.
