TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that the Disney+ and Marvel Studios series Hawkeye has found its showrunner. They’ve hired Mad Men writer Jonathan Igla for the series which will explore Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton mentoring Kate Bishop, a character in the comics that takes on the mantle of Hawkeye in the Young Avengers.
The Marvel series, being developed for the upcoming streaming service Disney+, has tapped Jonathan Igla to act as writer and executive producer. Igla cut his teeth, or sharpened his arrowhead, as it were, as a writer and executive story editor on Mad Men, the award-winning drama that helped establish AMC as a go-to place for critically acclaimed TV.
Renner, of course, will reprise his MCU role, but the casting for the part of Kate has yet to made official by either Disney or Marvel Studios.
The Hawkeye series was revealed San Diego Comic-Con for release sometime in the Fall of 2021.
Other Marvel Studios shows being lined-up for Disney+ include The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What-If, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel.
