According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harry Styles is in early talks to portray as Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid adaptation.
The famous singer made his feature-acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. If he signs on, it would be a major step forward in his acting career after winning audiences over in the Nolan film. The former One Direction member was previously in talks to play Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic.
Styles would join Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder. Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns) is at the helm as director with screenwriter David Magee is on script duty.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is producing and creating original music for the film. Beyond acting skills, Styles is a good choice due to his singing ability.
The Little Mermaid is set to begin principal photography in early 2020.
