Reported first by Variety, it appears that Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla VS Kong will be unfortunately delayed. The new release date is now November 20, 2020. This has been speculated for some time but not confirmed until today. The original release date for Godzilla VS Kong was March 13, 2020 which means the delay will extend to about eight months.
This may be worrisome to fans, especially after reports that Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ lower than expected box office risked the future of Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise. Godzilla VS Kong will now premiere 2 weeks after the release of Disney’s highly anticipated new MCU IP The Eternals, which debuts November 6, 2020.
The film is directed by Adam Wingard and stars Kyle Chandler, Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry.
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
