King of The Monsters’ Actor Thomas Middleditch Reportedly Joins The Cast of ‘Zombieland

While filming has been underway in Atlanta on Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland 2: Double Tap since last month, there is yet another addition to the cast revealed by Variety.

Comedian Thomas Middleditch has taken an undisclosed role in the film, assumed to be a human survivor. Middleditch is likely best known from the HBO series Silicon Valley and will have a supporting role Godzilla: King of the Monsters. He’ll join fellow newcomers, Rosario Dawson, and Zoey Deutch in the horror comedy.

Double Tap was penned by Zombieland/Deadpool screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese along with Dave Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984, Shang-Chi, The Expendables). The group from the original film returns as played by Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin. In the sequel, they’ll face multiple new types of zombies and will encounter fellow survivors.

Set in a world in which zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors.

It’ll be interesting to see how they plan on ramping up the action as the sequel’s title would suggest as some of the new zombies are tougher to kill and we could see a bit more action/gore than the first installment considering it’s a post-Walking Dead era and a zombie movie is likely going to need to turn up the volume to add anything new to the zombie genre.

Sony Pictures has given Zombieland 2: Double Tap a release date of October 11th.
