HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that the Andy Serkis directed Venom sequel has brought back visual effects supervisor Sheena Duggal, who worked on the first installment.

Her other credits include Miss Bala, Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters 2020, Doctor Strange, and Thor: The Dark World.

Andy Serkis is taking over directing duties from Ruben Fleischer with Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson reprising their roles.

Harrelson playing murderer Celtus Kasday that bonds with a new symbiote becoming Carnage, the main hyper-violent villain of the sequel.

Filming on the Spider-Man spinoff sequel will be taking place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England and California (assumed to be San Francisco and Los Angeles).

Despite poor critical reception, Venom earned an obscene amount of money with a global box office total of $856 million.

Oscar-winning cinematographer Robert Richardson will be behind the camera as the director of photography. Robert’s incredible credits include Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, Shutter Island, Inglourious Basterds, Casino, Kill Bill 1-2, Platoon, JFK, and Wall Street.

Recent reports point to British actress Naomie Harris (Miami Vice, Skyfall, Spectre, No Time To Die, Moonlight) being in talks to play the role of Spider-Man villain Shriek, who teams-up with Carnage (played by Woody Harrelson).

Trades had previously reported that production would kick-off this month.

We would be expecting to hear more casting announcements in the very near future.

While there have been rumblings that J.K. Simmons’ J. Jonah Jameson might be showing up in Jared Leto’s upcoming Spidey spinoff Morbius (releases July 31st, 2020), it’s currently unknown if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man or Simmons will be appearing in Venom 2.

Sony Pictures has set Venom 2’s release date for October 2nd, 2020.

Journalist Eddie Brock is trying to take down Carlton Drake, the notorious and brilliant founder of the Life Foundation. While investigating one of Drake’s experiments, Eddie’s body merges with the alien Venom — leaving him with superhuman strength and power. Twisted, dark and fueled by rage, Venom tries to control the new and dangerous abilities that Eddie finds so intoxicating.
