Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures are teaming up for an interesting sounding science fiction film titled Bios and it stars Tom Hanks in the main role of Finch.
The film follows Finch, the last man on Earth. An ailing inventor facing his own mortality, Finch builds a robot to keep his beloved dog safe. As the trio embarks upon an epic cross-country journey, the scientist must teach his creation to become “human” enough to take care of its charge, and the beloved pet to accept a new master.
It’ll be directed by Miguel Sapochnik (Repo Men), who directed the Battle of Basterds episode of Game of Thrones with a script from screenwriters Craig Luck and Ivor Powell.
There is now a new casting update for Bios.
Variety reports that Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First Class, Get Out, Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri) will co-star alongside Tom Hanks and will be playing the robot that Finch (Hanks) creates via motion-capture performance.
Casting the robot role is seemingly very important to the film as it’ll likely be mostly scenes with Tom and Caleb interacting with each other.
HN Entertainment recently revealed that Bios will have Spectral production designer Tom Meyer working on the film (we’re hoping it means that Weta Workshop will get involved). Bios is now expected to begin shooting on February 25th and wrap on May 19th. Locations are said to include Albuquerque, New Mexico and possibly Toronto.
Bios’ release date has been set for October 2nd, 2020 by Universal Pictures.
