The MCU is on a roll attracting high-caliber up and coming talent. According to multiple outlets, Captain Marvel’s Gemma Chan and Dunkirk’s Barry Keoghan are in negotiations to join the Eternals.
Variety has the exclusive that Chan is in talks to return to the MCU as a new character in the upcoming ensemble film. In addition to playing Captain Marvel’s Minn-Erva, she has appeared in box-office hit Crazy Rich Asians, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Her addition would make one of the few times an actor portrays two separate characters in one cinematic universe.
Collider reports that Irish actor Barry Keoghan will make his superhero debut alongside Angelina Jolie and others in Eternals. He’s best known for his role in Christopher Nolan‘s Dunkirk and recently appeared in HBO’s Chernobyl. The young actor also starred in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and heist movie American Animals. It’s not clear who exactly he would be playing.
The film hails from director Chloe Zhao, who will put her indie spin on the vast and expanding cosmic realm in the MCU. The cast is comprised of Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.
Marvel’s Eternals is set to hit theaters on November 6, 2020.
