This is it, the end of Thrones. It’s kind of bittersweet to be writing about the ending of a show that has been a big part of my life the last 8 years or so. I got on the Thrones train a little later than most, but I’m very glad that I did. This season in particular has been heavily ridiculed, as many have been upset with the narrative choices and the way Benioff and Weiss have chosen to end things. Personally, I loved it.
Even though most probably wanted Dany or Jon on the Iron Throne, I just never saw it happening throughout the series. I felt like this was as perfect an ending as could be for this series. It also ends in a way that left me wanting more, which is pretty rare for a series finale. Bran’s line when Tyrion asked him if he wanted the throne was also great. I’m very glad that Brienne ended up the Lord Commander, Bronn the Master of Coin, Davos the Master of Ships, Sam the Grand Maester, and so on. I bet Ned Stark would be proud to see where his children ended up.
With this series finally ending, HBO has already announced plans to create several spinoff series, one of which we already know about. It will be titled “The Long Night” and tell the origins of the White Walkers and the construction of the Wall. I’m definitely interested in that, but I’d love if they developed a series about Arya’s adventures beyond Westeros. Definitely a lot they could play with. As always, for my full thoughts on the episode, check out the video below!
Thank you Game of Thrones.
