HN Entertainment has learned that stunt coordinator Ben Cooke has joined the World War I film 1917, directed by Skyfall’s Sam Mendes. Cooke’s stunt coordinator credits include Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, Disney’s live-action Mulan movie, David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Fury, Mandy, and Assassin’s Creed.

Ben also was the stunt double for Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall.

Mendes’ production team also includes cinematographer Roger Deakins (Blade Runner 2049, Skyfall) and production designer Dennis Gassner (Blade Runner 2049, Skyfall), so without question, the war film will be simply gorgeous.

1917’s impressive cast includes George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Zero Dark Thirty), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, The Bodyguard), Andrew Scott (Spectre, Sherlock), Colin Firth (King’s Speech, Kingsman: The Secret Service), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange, Avengers: Infinity War), Adrian Scarborough, Jamie Parker, Nabhaan, Rizwan, and Claire Duburcq.

I’m extremely interested to see Sam make a war film and tackling one about World War I should be interesting since most films tend to focus on the events of World War II.

Filming is underway at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England and will also spend some time in Scotland as well.

Universal Pictures has set the release date for 1917 on December 25th.
