After a slow late-summer and fall at the box office, outside of Joker’s billion-dollar success. It looks like the holiday box office season will kick-off this weekend with Disney’s Frozen 2 as new tracking information suggests the film will do even better than originally projected.

New tracking info via BoxOfficePro now places the animated feature film in the range of $120-160 million, the high-end of that being up an impression $15 million from previous domestic projections for the sequel.

It’s possible the actual number could go even higher considering the demographic for Frozen 2 haven’t had too many options for their younger audiences and might end up quite an event for family gatherings ahead of the busy Thanksgiving weekend next week.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, the holiday should provide Frozen 2 a very strong second weekend as well and I wouldn’t be shocked if the film was able to avoid dipping below 50% in that second weekend ($60-80 million depending on the first weekend’s total).

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough. From the Academy Award®-winning team—directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez—and featuring the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad.
