‘Free Fire/Overlord’ Cinematographer Laurie Rose Expected To Work On ‘Tomb Raider 2’

HN Entertainment has learned that long-time Ben Wheatley cinematographer Laurie Rose is expected to be working with him yet again on the untitled Tomb Raider sequel starring Alicia Vikander.

Rose has worked with Ben on Sightseers, Kill List, A Field In England, High-Rise, Free Fire, and his upcoming Netflix drama Rebecca. His other credits include Stan and Ollie, Bad Robot’s WWII horror flick Overlord, and the recent Pet Sematary reboot based on the Stephen King novel.

This wouldn’t be the only Wheatley collaborator on the project as screenwriter Amy Jump, who has worked with Ben on multiple films is also penning Tomb Raider 2’s script.

We’re also hearing that filming is said to be taking place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England, but will also have multiple secondary/exterior filming locations given the character’s globetrotting adventures.

The original film shot a bunch of sequences in South Africa but remains to be seen if they’ll be returning just yet.

Warner Bros. had previously announced that the film is expected to be released on March 19th, 2021.

This release date would suggest production will likely kick-off between spring/summer of next year.
