Getting your Netflix series canceled isn’t always a bad thing.
Actress Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is reportedly landing on her feet with a new feature film role. And according to Variety, it’s yet another large genre project this time with Legendary’s Godzilla vs Kong, which is about to kick-off production in Hawaii.
Jessica might be best known for her role of Colleen Wing on the Marvel/Netflix series Iron Fist, which was recently canceled by Netflix due to reportedly low viewership compared to the first season.
Henwick will join previously announced cast members that include Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgard, Julian Dennison, Rebecca Hall, Eiza Gonzalez, Demian Bichir, and Brian Tyree Henry.
Production on the kaiju crossover epic will also take place in Atlanta, Georgia and Gold Coast, Australia. It’s expected to complete filming sometime in February.
Little detail is known about the film but we are expecting a large Monarch presence in the film and a return to Skull Island.
Warner Bros. has set the release for Godzilla vs Kong for May 22nd, 2020.
Godzilla: King of The Monsters will lead directly to Godzilla vs Kong, so it is very much worth checking on when it’s released on May 31st, 2019.
Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action-adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
