A new report from TheObserver claims that British comedian, actress, and television writer Phoebe Waller-Bridger (Broachchruch, Solo: A Star Wars Story) has been requested by Daniel Craig himself (a producer on the film) to help add some humor to the Bond 25 script. The timeline they’ve laid out suggests she would be adding stuff to the version that was just worked on by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum).

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who created, wrote and starred in the eponymous BBC hit, has been brought in to liven up the script of the next James Bond film, still known as Bond 25. She has been specifically requested by Daniel Craig, who plays 007, to bring her wit and quirkiness to the screenplay, the Observer has learned.

Sources close to the film in the US said that while in the country she discussed with Craig how to improve the script of Bond 25, which the 007 actor felt needed some “polishing”, by introducing more humour and the offbeat style of writing she is best known for.

Then, in February, a third writer, Scott Z Burns, best known for his screenplay for The Bourne Ultimatum, was brought in before Waller-Bridge. All this has meant that filming has been delayed repeatedly and that the original release date of October 2018 was not met.

About a month ago, HN Entertainment had spotted a crew listing recently with Bond 25’s possible working or official title on it which was said to be “Eclipse”.

Script polishes and rewrites are very much common in the world of filmmaking and big blockbusters, and the Bond franchise has seen it’s fair share over the years even with the Daniel Craig era, so I wouldn’t get too worried about the multiple writers getting involved.

The cast so far includes Daniel Craig, recent Best Actor winner Rami Malek as the film’s main villain, Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie Harris.

Filming locations that are confirmed for the film include Pinewood Studios UK, Norway, Italy, and Jamaica. The later is rumored to be the locale where they’re expected to make their big press day announcement for the film, where they normally reveal the cast and title of the film.

Bond 25’s release date had recently been bumped from February 14, 2020, to April 8th, 2020.
