Flash director Andy Muschietti (IT, IT: Chapter Two) was speaking at a panel with the cast of the upcoming 20th Century Fox horror flick Underwater and confirmed to ThatHashtagShow he’ll be shooting the Flash movie starring Ezra Miller in 2020.
Also, he confirmed they would be tackling a very different version of Flashpoint.
Muschietti was on hand in Hollywood last night to moderate a panel with the cast of Underwater following a press screening of the film. In speaking directly with That Hashtag Show, he confirmed that he will indeed be working on the upcoming Flash movie for DC in 2020. That project will be “different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting,” Muschietti tells us.
Ezra Miller is about to begin shooting Fantastic Beasts 3 in Brazil and at the Potterverse homestead production facility at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England.
There have been multiple incarnations of this Flash movie over the years with various directors/screenwriters developing scripts and the most recent version has a script penned by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Bumblebee, Batgirl).
Andy seems to have confirmed that Flashpoint will still part of the film, but how that will be executed remains to be seen.
Could we see alternate versions of Batman, Joker, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman?
I wouldn’t be terribly shocked if they try and do their own thing rather doing something completely predictable.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman (England) and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (Atlanta) are both currently filming.
Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey set to be released next month on February 7th and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5th.
The Flash recently got a new studio release date of July 1st, 2022.
