PageSix has posted set photos from The Falcon & The Winter Soldier revealing the first look at actor Wyatt Russell (Overlord, Black Mirror) as John Walker aka U.S. Agent.

The photos seemingly Walker being chosen as the government’s official replacement for Steve Rogers as he has the shield and rocking a costume very similar to Captain America’s.

It’ll be interesting to see how Walker ends up with the shield since Sam Wilson aka The Falcon was chosen by Rogers to take over the Captain America mantle at the end of Avengers: Endgame. There is a good chance there is government intervention involved as Sam was considered an international fugitive before the snap and might be based on a PR stunt (not unlike Iron Patriot in Iron Man 3).

We’ve seen set photos of Anthony Mackie as Sam outside of his Falcon uniform, so there is a chance he’s undercover or possibly retires from the superhero life after the shield is taken from him.

Speaking of Anthony Mackie, he has mentioned in the past that the series could focus on the potential internal drama of him taking over the Captain America persona before ultimately becoming the new Cap and it seems like the Disney+ series will indeed tackle hiccups on that front, likely how U.S. Agent comes into the picture.

I wouldn’t be terribly shocked if William Hurt’s Thunderbolt Ross is involved given to the recent rumblings that the Thunderbolts will factor into the series.

The Falcon & The Winter Soldier is officially set begin airing on Disney+ starting in the fall.
