Last month, there was some speculation by Deadline that director Jon S. Baird (Stan and Ollie, Filth) would be writing and directing an untitled feature film for Marv Films that could be Kingsman 3.
HN Entertainment is hearing from a source that this could indeed be the case and would make a lot of sense as Matthew Vaughn has publicly stated that he hoped Kingsman 3 would begin shooting in late 2019 or early 2020.
Considering that King’s Man doesn’t open domestically until next Valentine’s Day and Vaughn would be a little too busy with post-production to begin pre-production on that film, hiring someone else would allow Vaughn to focus on his origin film’s post-work and release/press tour.
Jane Goldman, who normally co-writes movies with Matthew is a little busy showrunning the new Game of Thrones prequel series aka Bloodmoon for HBO.
Baird is likely best known for his James McAvoy raunchy flick Filth based on the Scottish-set novel from Trainspotting’s Irvine Welsh, which has McAvoy playing a bent/perverted police officer named Bruce Robertson.
A film that certainly makes him a good contender to tackle the Kingsman franchise.
We don’t know much about the third movie but according to Vaughn, it would see the return of Taron Egerton and Colin Firth.
Kingsman 3 doesn’t have an official release date but will likely come out sometime in 2021.
