Idris Elba has finalized a deal to be apart of a “Fast and Furious” spin-off titled Hobbs and Shaw. The British actor will play a villainous role alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Luke Hobbs), Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) and Vanessa Kirby. Elba is no novice when it comes to the villainous role as he has starred in popular roles like Krall, a lizard-like dictator who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims in Star Trek Beyond (2016) and Colin, a car accident victim who is welcomed into the home of Terry (Taraji P. Henson) but begins to terrorize her and her family in No Good Deed (2014).
The film is already set to be filled with a boatload of chemistry with the script being written by Chris Morgan who was the screenwriter for the Fast and Furious franchise.
Hobbs and Shaw has said to be in the works for years now according to Dwayne Johnson. The spin-off was green lit after fan reactions to the chemistry between the two in 2017’s Fate of the Furious.
Johnson took to his Instagram to welcome Elba and comment about the background of the spinoff.
