TheHollywoodReporter reveals that Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) has signed to direct a film based on the ’90s J. Scott Campbell comic book Danger Girl, that was directly inspired by the likes of Indiana Jones, James Bond, Charlie’s Angels, and Tomb Raider.

Jeff Wadlow, the genre filmmaker who last helmed horror hit Truth or Dare, has signed to direct Danger Girl, the adaptation of the 1990s hit comic being made by Constantin Films.

Danger Girl follows the adventures of Abbey Chase, an adventurer who was reluctantly recruited into a secret organization. Chase is then paired with operatives Sydney Savage and Natalia Kasstle on a globe-trotting adventure to locate a series of mystical objects and keep them out of the hands of the evil Hammer Syndicate.

Wadlow is best known for directing Kick-Ass 2 and recently made a feature version of the television series Fantasy Island for Blumhouse Productions, he was also once attached to direct an X-Force movie for 20th Century Fox before being replaced with Drew Goddard and had been involved in one of the incarnations of Masters of The Universe.

A screenwriter isn’t mentioned but Jeff is known as writing projects he directs.

I’m very aware of this comic series as I was a massive fan of artist J. Scott Campbell when he was still working on Danger Girl, it certainly has a cinematic film but that was likely because it was directly inspired by every action/adventure film franchise we had access to in the 1990s. It’ll be interesting to see if they actually make something fun or generic.
