HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that Bill Roe (The Blacklist, Castle) is the latest director that has joined the Marvel/Hulu series Helstrom.
In Marvel’s Helstrom, Daimon (aka Son of Satan) and Ana Helstrom (aka Satana) are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity — each with their attitude and skills.
Bill is best known as a cinematographer working on the bulk of the X-Files episodes, including the film X-Files: I Want To Believe, and the Terminator spinoff series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
He also has some Marvel experience having been the cinematographer on 20th Century Fox’s Elektra film starring Jennifer Garner, a spinoff of the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie.
Tom Austen (The Borgias) and Sydney Lemmon (Succession, Fear The Walking Dead) will be leading the series as the two Helstrom siblings.
Filming is currently underway in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
There is an expectation that Helstrom could begin airing on Hulu next year (possibly in the fall).
Marvel Television had reportedly folded into Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios, who recently became the chief creative officer of Marvel overseeing film, television, animation, and publishing. Jeph Loeb, the head of Marvel Television is said to be part of the transition and will then leave the company.
It remains to be seen if Helstrom will be retroactively be thrown into the Marvel Cinematic Universe or will simply be the final series in the Jeph Loeb era landing a single season taking place on the outside of the MCU.
We’re extremely curious to see what the show will ultimately look like and if Marvel will pursue multiple seasons or like with other Loeb shows, cancel it once the first season finishes airing on Hulu.
