Wu-Tang: An American Saga, RZA’s upcoming Wu-Tang Clan series is starting to shape ahead of its upcoming production.
We have learned that up and coming actors, Siddiq Saunderson and Marcus Callender (Straight Outta Compton) have signed on to star in the 10 episode series. We can also share that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse breakout star Shamiek Moore and Ashton Sanders (Moonlight) are in talks to appear as well.
Saunders is set to play Dennis “D-Love” Coles aka Ghostface Killah, while Callender has lockdown the role of Power Grant. If Moore and Sanders officially sign they would take on the roles of Sha Rader and RZA respectively.
Production on the series is set to kick off on Febraury 26, in New York City.
RZA is set to serve as the program’s co-writer and executive producer. Method Man will also serve as one of the project’s executive producers, while Alex Tse will help write and produce the venture as well. GZA, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and the Estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard have signed on as consulting producers.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga is based on the stories behind Wu-Tang Clan’s beginnings and RZA’s own Tao of Wu and The Wu-Tang Manual books. The series is set in “early ’90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic,” and follows the Wu-Tang Clan’s journey as they set out to create “the unlikeliest of American success stories.”
