HN Entertainment has been able to exclusively confirm that Sony Pictures’ musical version of Cinderella will be mainly filming at Pinewood Studios UK in England.
Filming at Pinewood would suggest that Sony is spending a good amount of money on the musical. The most recent studio tentpole productions shot at the British facility include Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Morbius, Black Widow, Eternals, and No Time To Die.
The upcoming fairytale film stars singer Camila Cabella as the titular Cinderella, Idina Menzel (Frozen, Uncut Gems, Frozen II) as the evil stepmother Evelyn, and Billy Porter (Pose) is said to be playing Cinderella’s fairy Godfather.
Director Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect) has assembled a seasoned production team that includes veteran cinematographer Andrew Dunn (Crazy Stupid Love, Precious, The Bodyguard, The Count of Monte Cristo), production designer Paul Kirby (Hellboy, The Old Guard, Jason Bourne, Kingsman: The Secret Service), and supervising art director Nigel Evans (Deadpool, Morbius, Spider-Man: Far From Home, War For The Planet of The Apes, Eurovision).
Kay Cannon, who penned the Pitch Perfect movies also wrote the film’s screenplay.
The classic fairytale Cinderella has been made into multiple feature films the most notable being the Disney animated film from 1950 and the more recent live-action adaption directed by Kenneth Branagh from 2015.
CINDERELLA – With a wicked stepmother and two jealous stepsisters, who keep her as a servant and in rags, Cinderella stands no chance of attending the royal ball.
