As casting heats up for Bond 25 and director Cary Fukunaga works on completing the script before production starts at Pinewood Studios UK in March, we have a small crew update to share that should be exciting for fans.
HN Entertainment can now confirm that Skyfall and Casino Royale’s Alexander Witt will be returning as Bond 25’s 2nd unit director and 2nd unit director of photography. He’ll be working alongside previously announced First Man/La La Land cinematographer Linus Sandgren (revealed by Variety on social media) and director Cary Fukunaga.
Most of the time a 2nd unit director takes care of the establishing/city/landscape shots along with stunt/action scenes that might be a little too tricky or dangerous for the main directing/camera team to handle. Witt will have now worked on a majority of the Daniel Craig era Bond films excluding Quantum of Solace, he certainly has plenty of experience working on a Bond set.
His other credits include Avengers: Infinity War, Skyfall, Spectre, Casino Royale, Gladiator, Safe House, The Italian Job, X-Men: First Class, American Gangster, The Town, Black Hawn Down, and most recently worked on Disney’s Jungle Cruise.
Fukunaga recently revealed to TheDailyMail that Lea Seydoux would be reprising her role of Dr. Madeleine Swann along with the return of supporting actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie Harris.
It’s expected that Bond 25 will be the final outing for Daniel Craig as 007, leading to a recasting in Bond 26 and potentially another franchise reboot.
Bond 25 has been given a release date of February 14th, 2020.
