HN Entertainment has learned that veteran character actor Corey Johnson has a role in Sony Pictures’ Morbius, which focuses the vampiric Spider-Man villain played by Jared Leto.

Corey is no stranger to comic book movies as his credits include Hellboy as Agent Clay, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Kick-Ass. His other impressive projects include Captain Phillips, A Private War, The Bourne Legacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Ex Machina, and The Mummy.

Dr. Michael Morbius (Leto) tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease with an experimental treatment that turns himself into a living vampire that needs to feed on human plasma.

The cast also includes Jared Harris, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Tyrese Gibson, and Al Madrigal. Daniel Espinosa will direct from a script penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Morbius and Venom are part of a Sony’s corner of the Marvel universe along with upcoming projects such as Kraven The Hunter, Silver Sable, Black Cat, Nightwatch, Jackpot, and Silk.

Venom 2 is expected to be the next Spider-Man spinoff to go into production possibly this fall but has yet to land a director officially.

Sony Pictures has set Morbius’ release date for July 31st, 2020.
