EXCLUSIVE: Daina Reid Expected To Direct Marvel’s ‘Helstrom’ Series

HN Entertainment has learned that Marvel Television and Hulu’s upcoming comic book streaming series Helstrom is expected to be directed by Daina Reid.

How many episodes she’ll be working on is currently unclear.

The Emmy nominated Australian director is likely best known Stateside for her recent work on Hulu’s massive hit The Handmaid’s Tale. She’s been directing Aussie television/miniseries for two decades including a series version of Russell Crowe’s Romper Stomper.

Reid’s fellow director on the dystopian series Kari Skogland is set to direct the 6-episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series for Disney+, which is said to begin shooting next month.

Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer in “Marvel’s Helstrom.” The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the worst of humanity—each with their attitude and skills. “Marvel’s Helstrom” is executive produced by Paul Zbyszewski, who will serve as showrunner and Marvel Television’s Jeph Loeb.

Also, we’ve learned that stunt coordinator Larry Lam will be working on the series as well.

Lam’s impressive credits include Shazam!, Altered Carbon, Power Rangers, and Marco Polo.

Yesterday, ComicBook revealed that the Marvel Television series will be going under the name of the working title Omens and could begin filming in Vancouver this October.

If their dates are correct, casting for the roles of Daimon and Ana will be announced officially very soon.

A Ghost Rider streaming series is also on the way at Hulu with Terminator: Dark Fate’s Gabriel Luna reprising the role of Robbie Reyes.

The expectation has been that the Hulu series will be a lot more mature than the Disney+ counterparts.
