Yesterday, we revealed that the new Mortal Kombat movie will be adding Kano’s crime syndicate Black Dragon along with the character of Jarek.
We have another small character tidbit to share along with some exclusive plot details.
HN Entertainment has learned that classic character Reptile, who first appeared in the original 1992 game is going to be showing up in the new movie and will pursue the heroes alongside Joe Taslim’s Sub-Zero and Sisi Stringer’s Mileena.
The three baddies are expected to be doing the bidding of the film’s main villain Shang Tsung.
The film’s McGuffin is being referred to as the Black Medallion. In the games, medallions are unique items that normally give characters enhanced powers such as the Warrior Medallion and the Dragon Medallion.
We’ve also been able to confirm that the film’s main protagonist will actually be a new character named Cole Turner (first revealed by ThatHashtagShow). Cole, a struggling fighter is thrust into the plot of the film as he’s pursued by the likes of Sub-Zero and others.
Filming will begin later this year at Adelaide Studios in South Australia.
While a handful of casting announcements were recently made by the trades, there are a lot more coming in the near future.
Warner Bros. has set the R-rated reboot’s release date for March 5th, 2021.
