HN Entertainment has been able to exclusively confirm that Netflix’s sequel to The Christmas Chronicles has added veteran cinematographer Don Burgess to the film’s production team.
The sequel will indeed be directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone) with star Kurt Russell set to reprise the role of Santa.
Don’s feature film credits include the first Christmas Chronicles, Aquaman, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, The Conjuring 2, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Source Code, Book of Eli, Terminator 3, and he most recently worked on Robert Zemeick’s remake of The Witches.
Filming will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Production was said to begin this fall but casting announcements still haven’t been made officially by Netflix.
However, The Christmas Chronicles 2 is indeed expected to drop sometime next year.
Siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce hatch a scheme to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. When the plan goes awry, the kids join forces with a somewhat jolly Saint Nick and his loyal elves to save the holiday before it’s too late.
The Christmas Chronicles, a holiday adventure from producer Chris Columbus (“Home Alone”, “Harry Potter”) and director Clay Kaytis (“The Angry Birds Movie”), tells the story of sister and brother, Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about.
After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa – as you’ve never seen him before – and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it’s too late.
