Earlier today, HN Entertainment’s Nicholas Whitcomb was able to speak with actor Jake Busey about his many film and television projects. Ranging from Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners, Tony Scott’s Enemy of The State, Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers, to his more recent television work on Stranger Things and L.A.’s Finest.

In our first segment with Jake, we were able to ask him about a recent conversation we had with Starship Troopers franchise screenwriter Ed Neumeier in January where he exclusively revealed to HN Entertainment early development on a live-action television series with the original cast. He not only knew about it but Ed, Jake, and co-star Casper Van Dien aka Johnny Rico have actually talked about what that could look like along with Busey reprising the role of Ace Levy.

HN: We actually had the chance to speak with Ed Neumeier back in January and he talked about possibly developing a Starship Troopers TV show with the original cast. Is that something you’ve talked about?

BUSEY: “I still train with Casper [Van Dien], we still work out together and if you look at my Instagram you can see us working out at the gym.”

“Casper has told me about conversations he’s had with Ed. So yes, I will corroborate that, yes. [Ed] and Casper have been talking about a series and they’ve both expressed to me that this time they really want me to be part of it, so I think Casper and I would be older men in the battle, in the war room, in the planning room or at the helm of a destroyer but not necessarily boots on the ground.”

“We’re old guys now if you’re 45 years old you’re not going to be running around doing the boot camp thing. But yeah, a TV series would be great. “

Stay tuned for much much more from our conversation with Jake.

At least we know a TV show can already work since Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles was able to pull it off.
