Thanks to the announcements from San Diego Comic-Con concerning the Phase 4 lineup of television shows and movies coming from Marvel Studios there are now plenty of roles open to actors/actresses and there is one actress that deserves to finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I think it is only a matter of time before actress Eva Green is considered for a role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that Mistress of Death/Lady Death casting online rumbling aside (that didn’t turn out to be true).
It also doesn’t hurt that she recently worked with Disney on the live-action adaptation of Dumbo from director Tim Burton, the two previously worked together on Dark Shadows where she played that film’s villain an evil witch seductress named Angelique Bouchard.
There is a possible upcoming role in the MCU that I think Green would be a good fit for and that would be the interdimensional villain Nightmare.
Director Scott Derrickson has been previously talking up using Nightmare in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel titled Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.
The film will see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scart Witch team-up, and face a very powerful threat from the Multiverse.
A FEMALE VERSION OF NIGHTMARE
Nightmare is a Fear Lord demon and holds dominion over the Dream Dimension. A female version of Nightmare could be kind of a combination of Gozer from Ghostbusters and Pennywise from IT, which might be slightly scarier than the version from the comics.
With Marvel Studios opening the doors to female villains, Cate Blanchett’s Hela being the very first main female villain we will hopefully see more in the future and given that Doctor Strange interacts with random unseen threats from other dimensions, why wouldn’t some of them be female?
EVA COULD GIVE LIFE TO AN OBSCURE VILLAIN
Green has always played complex characters with varying levels of villainy and could certainly give Nightmare the kind of performance an obscure character like this would need to be elevated. She could go feral and predatorial if need be for a role like Nightmare.
Tackling villainess roles in Dark Shadows (horror comedy), Sin City: A Dame To Kill (comic book movie), and 300: Rise of An Empire (comic book fantasy flick) slightly elevating them in the process even if the film themselves weren’t terribly great.
CONNECTIONS TO MULTIPLE MCU ACTORS
We’ve seen plenty of actors with connections with previous Marvel cast members be considered for future roles, and Eva Green has plenty of those connections at least 10 by our count.
One of those actors just happened to have played the main villain in the very first Doctor Strange movie, Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecilius).
List of MCU actors that have worked with Eva in the past.
- Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecilius) – Casino Royale/Salvation
- Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) – Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
- Josh Brolin (Thanos) – Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
- Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet van Dyne/Wasp) – Dark Shadows
- Michael Keaton (The Vulture) – Dumbo
- Mickey Rourke (Whiplash) – Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
- Angela Bassett (Ramonda) – White Bird In A Blizzard
- Jeffrey Wright (The Watcher) – Casino Royale
- Callan Mulvey (Jack Rollins ) – 300: Rise of An Empire
- Edward Norton (Bruce Banner) – Kingdom of Heaven
Nightmare is just one the many Marvel characters I think she’d be perfect for there are always roles such as Amora The Enchantress, Ophelia Sarksassin aka Viper/Madame Hydra, and Karnilla Queen of The Norns. But we’ll keep our fingers crossed for her to be considered for the Doctor Strange villain first.
